High Performance Street Brake Pads
Please note that the "Friction co-efficient" and "Optimum heat range" figures quoted below for Powerbrake pad compounds are based on our own brake dyno testing. These figures are conservative. We are fully aware that there are numerous pad manufacturers out there that grossly exaggerate friction co-efficient and heat range figures in their marketing material. Unfortunately many vehicle owners fall for these inflated figures and purchase the pads only to end up being very disappointed with the real world performance. At Powerbrake we do not exaggerate or inflate test results for marketing purposes. The brake dyno we use is set up to give conservative results. We would rather under-promise and over-deliver than the other way round. The figures quoted below are intended to highlight the differences between our own pad compounds in relation to one another. It is impossible to compare figures from two different brake dyno's. There are just too many variables. When comparing our figures to those published by some of our competitors, it may seem that their pads look good on paper. In the real world however, we are confident that you will be very happy with the performance of our pads, which will perform as advertised.... or better! That's why we have so many return customers that stick to our pad compounds.
Powerbrake Pad Compounds
Powerbrake GT
- Optimum heat range: 0-460 deg C
- Friction co-efficient: 0,40
- Recommended tyres: Street & high-performance street
- Pad life: Good
- Disc wear: Moderate
- Brake dust: Medium - high
- NVH (noise, vibration, harshness): Low
- Suitable for street use: Yes
- Suitable for track day use: No
Powerbrake GT is a premium replacement pad compound that will typically offer about a 15% performance upgrade over OEM factory pads. Most pads in the range feature edge chamfers and squeal damping shims to ensure smooth, quiet operation. Powerbrake GT pads offer a good combination of performance and wear life at a competitive price.
Powerbrake GT-2
- Optimum heat range: 0-550 deg C
- Friction co-efficient: 0,43 - 0,45
- Recommended tyres: Street & high-performance street
- Pad life: Good
- Disc wear: Low
- Brake dust: Low - moderate
- NVH (noise, vibration, harshness): Low
- Suitable for street use: Yes
- Suitable for track day use: No
Powerbrake GT-2 is one the best all-round performance street pads that we have ever tested. This material offers a unique balance of strong brake performance, good heat range, excellent modulation, low disc wear, low noise levels and low dust. A true upgrade product that will offer a substantial step up in brake performance and fade resistance over most OEM factory pads but without the negative of increased noise and disc wear that often comes with running high-friction street pads. Introduced in 2011, the GT-2 compound is fast becoming our best-selling pad compound.
Powerbrake GT-3
- Optimum heat range: 0-560 deg C
- Friction co-efficient: 0,48
- Recommended tyres: Street & high-performance street
- Pad life: Good
- Disc wear: Low
- Brake dust: Low - moderate
- NVH (noise, vibration, harshness): Low
- Suitable for street use: Yes
- Suitable for track day use: No
The Powerbrake GT-3 compound will offer a considerably stronger initial "bite" than our GT-2 compound. The brake torque curve is also flatter, when compared to the slightly rising torque curve of the GT-2 compound. Our new GT-3 material is a high-tech ceramic compound that combines class-leading brake response, high friction levels and excellent modulation. Customers looking for a step up in initial bite over our GT-2 compound will really like the characteristics of the GT-3 material. GT-3 offers very good fade resistance for a high-performance street pad and if pushed to beyond its recommended maximum operating temperature, the fade occurs in a very predictable manner (i.e. friction levels do not fall off rapidly as is the case with many competitive products on the world market). What the brake dyno figures cannot convey is the excellent pedal feel of the GT-3 compound, which really must be experienced to fully appreciate. This pad material is kind to discs and results in a distinctive, polished disc surface finish. The GT-3 pads will create a little more brake dust than our GT-2 compound but the dust output remains very low when compared to most competitive products on the world market. Pad life is slightly less than our GT-2 compound but remains very good for a performance street pad.
Powerbrake GT-4
- Optimum heat range: 0-630 deg C
- Friction co-efficient: 0,44 - 0,52
- Recommended tyres: Street & high-performance street
- Pad life: Good (street use), low-medium (entry level track day use)
- Disc wear: Medium - high
- Brake dust: Medium - high
- NVH (noise, vibration, harshness): Medium
- Suitable for street use: Yes
- Suitable for track day use: Entry-level track day use only
(i.e. less than 5 laps per session on street tyres in a light, unmodified car)
The Powerbrake GT-4 compound is aimed at fast-road enthusiasts that are running powerful or modified cars and have aggressive driving styles. This compound offers very high friction levels and class-leading fade resistance for a street pad. GT-4 can be used by entry-level track day customers, who want to do a few laps (less than 5) on street tyres in an unmodified car. It should be noted that GT-4 is not intended to be used for advanced track day or race use. Under street driving conditions, the GT-4 compound will create more brake dust and will also be more abrasive to discs than the Powerbrake GT-2 compound. This is the trade-off for the performance and heat range of this pad material.
Powerbrake Pad Compound Characteristics:

Endless Pad Compounds
Endless NS97
- Optimum heat range: 0-550 deg C
- Friction co-efficient: 0,45
- Recommended tyres: Street & high-performance street
- Pad life: Good
- Disc wear: Low
- Brake dust: Low
- NVH (noise, vibration, harshness): Low
- Suitable for street use: Yes
- Suitable for track day use: No
Endless NS97 is a low-met compound manufactured by Endless Japan. Endless brake pads are expensive but are without a doubt some of the very best available on the world market. NS97 offers excellent brake performance from cold to disc temperatures of around 550 deg C. The material exhibits a slightly less aggressive initial ‘bite’ than CCA (below) with a smoother engagement. Brake modulation is excellent. This material will run particularly clean and quiet for a high-performance pad compound. Disc wear is also lower than with many other performance street pads on the market today. As with all Endless compounds, pad wear life is very good.
Endless CCA
- Optimum heat range: 0-650 deg C
- Friction co-efficient: 0,48
- Recommended tyres: Street & high-performance street
- Pad life: Very good
- Disc wear: Medium
- Brake dust: Medium
- NVH (noise, vibration, harshness): Medium
- Suitable for street use: Yes
- Suitable for track day use: Entry-level track day use only
(i.e. less than 5 laps per session on street tyres in a light, unmodified car)
Endless CCA is a ceramic-carbon-metal compound manufactured by Endless Japan. The Endless CCA compound is designed to offer very strong brake performance for high-performance street vehicles. CCA provides a particularly firm pedal feel and very strong initial 'bite'. Friction levels remain high across a wide temperature range. The CCA compound will offer substantially upgraded brake performance from cold to disc temperatures of 550 deg C, while being able to handle peak temperature spikes of up to 650 deg C for short periods. CCA can be used for entry-level track day applications (i.e. less than 5 laps per session on street tyres in an unmodified car). The CCA compound is not intended to be used for advanced track day or race use. Pad life is very good under street driving conditions and the compound exhibits fairly low disc wear as well.
