Powerbrake Powerbrake: Brake Discs

Disc Designs: Heavy Duty™

Benefits – at a glance:

  • Excellent wear life under high-mileage use.

  • Smooth, quiet braking.

  • Zero vibration or brake judder.

  • Good high-temperature stability for heavy duty street applications.

  • Unique surface coating ensures fast bed-in and optimum brake performance.

We are proud to introduce the new Powerbrake Heavy Duty™ disc range. Our Heavy Duty™ discs are manufactured using materials and technology originally developed for our Pro Street™ and championship-winning Die Hard™ series discs. The result is a range of brake discs that are machined to tolerances up to three times tighter than industry norm. These industry-leading tolerances play a key role in achieving smooth, quiet braking, zero brake judder and maximum disc life. Every Heavy Duty™ disc is also mill-balanced to ensure zero off-brake vibration, hereby extending wheel bearing life as well.

Each Powerbrake Heavy Duty™ disc that leaves the production line is measured in all critical dimensions using equipment capable of measuring accurately to tolerances of 0.005mm. There is no batch testing. Every single disc is measured. This 100% inspection policy is practically unheard of in the brake disc aftermarket and is testimony to our commitment to deliver a perfect product – without fail.

Powerbrake Heavy Duty™ discs are machined from a range of proprietary cast-iron alloys. These alloys have been proven in our high-performance Pro Street disc range to offer high friction levels, excellent thermal stability and superb wear-life.

Our Heavy Duty™ discs are coated with a proprietary silver ‘dry-coating’, which ensures quick bed-in and maximum brake performance. The dry-coating eliminates the need for the oil or lacquer-based coatings that are applied to most aftermarket discs (in order to stop them from rusting in the box). The oil and lacquer coatings, used by many disc manufacturers, are seldom properly removed prior to disc fitment and often end up negatively affecting brake performance. Our dry coating ensures that our discs are completely free from oil or any other contaminants, meaning that our customers are assured of the very highest levels of brake performance – straight from the box.

There is no need for any disc cleaning or further preparation prior to the fitment of our discs. Simply remove your Powerbrake discs from the packaging, fit and use. This can save up to 20 minutes on a brake fitment job.

At a time when many of the discs available in the aftermarket are being produced to meet the lowest possible price point, (often leading to ‘suspect’ quality and resulting in brake judder and poor wear life), Powerbrake offers vehicle owners a premium quality alternative in the form of our Heavy Duty™ disc range. Our Heavy Duty™ discs will be appreciated by vehicle owners and fitment centres who understand that fitting ‘cheap’, suspect-quality brake discs is not only costly in the long run but can be downright dangerous. Our discs are designed to exceed the performance and durability of the original equipment discs fitted to the car by the vehicle manufacturer. We believe that our Heavy Duty™ discs are quite simply the highest quality, standard-replacement discs on the market today.

IMPORTANT:

Using the correct brake pad compound in conjunction with your discs is key to ensuring optimum brake performance and durability. Powerbrake Heavy Duty™ discs are also available as part of a matched disc/pad kit. Each matched kit includes two front Heavy Duty™ discs as well as a set of premium quality, heavy duty brake pads that have been selected by Powerbrake to offer maximum performance and durability. Take the guesswork out of brake pad selection by purchasing a matched Heavy Duty™ Kit.

Recommended driving style:

  • Ideal for high-mileage applications including regular, repetitive braking in heavy traffic.

  • Towing or heavy vehicle loading that results in higher than normal disc temperatures.

  • Driver’s that are looking for a high-performance brake disc but want to avoid the subtle humming sound that can accompany the use of slotted performance discs.

  • Vehicle owners who insist on fitting brake discs that meet or exceed the performance and durability of the original discs fitted to the car.
