Team Afrox’s Anthony Taylor gets a flying start to the 2009
season
Team Afrox, who campaign two BMW 330i race cars in the ultra
competitive A-Class Bridgestone Production Car series, ran a
Powerbrake 330x32mm big brake kit on one of their cars during the
2008 season. After a strong 2008 season in which the Powerbrake
setup performed flawlessly, the team made the decision to fit a
Powerbrake kit to their second car as well for the 2009 season. This
is car is driven by well-known SA racing talent, Anthony Taylor.

The first race weekend of the season took place at Aldo Scribante
Circuit in Port Elizabeth. In the face of fierce competition, Team
Afrox had a very strong start to the season, with Anthony taking
pole position, a win in race one and a third place in race two
(which features a reverse grid). This gave Anthony and Team Afrox
the overall win for the opening weekend of the season. Anthony
commented on the consistency of the brake setup on the car, which he
said remained excellent throughout both races. Anthony’s strength
under braking was clearly visible when scrutinizing television
footage of the race. |

The second race weekend of the season was held at Kyalami raceway in
Midrand. After trying different pad compounds during the practice
sessions on Friday to fine tune brake characteristics to Anthony’s
preference, he qualified third on the grid for the first heat on
Saturday. Anthony went on to drive the Afrox BMW 330i to a strong
second place finish. The second race of the day ended with another
win for Anthony in spite of serious pressure from Melville Priest in
his Audi A4 3.2 FSI. The end result being another overall win for
Anthony Taylor, Team Afrox and Powerbrake. |
