Forza Racing chooses Powerbrake rotors and Hawk pads for the 2008 season

Team Forza Racing, based in Johannesburg South Africa, prepare and run a total of eight Ferrari 360 Challenge race cars. The cars are raced in the Altech Porsche Challenge Series. The series, which was originally a one-make Porsche affair, for the past two years has allowed the entry of numerous other brands of super-cars. The result is a highly competitive race-series in which brands such as Porsche, Ferrari, Lotus, TVR etc race side by side in five different classes to create one of the most exciting spectacles in South African motor sport.
The Forza Racing Ferrari’s have dominated B-Class throughout the 2008 season, with team manager/driver Oscar de Oliveira currently leading the class with a 37-point lead over team mate Sharl Parsad. Other Forza Racing team members that have made a strong showing of themselves during the 2008 season include Christo Lindeque and Jeremy Pougnet.

In addition to their successful race program, Forza Racing also use their Ferrari 360 Challenge cars for their Ferrari Driving Experience days in which corporate or private customers get to spend the day driving these state of the art race cars under supervision of the Forza Racing instructors. After spending the day driving the cars themselves, the driving experience days end with each customer getting to experience a number of “hot-laps” at full race pace with the Forza instructors behind the wheel.
Between their busy race schedule and regular Driving Experience days, the Forza cars rack up a lot of track mileage during a season, meaning that the performance and durability of their brake components plays a key role in the success of both their race and corporate programs.

“Since we use our cars under highly competitive race conditions as well as our Driving Experience days, we need to run brake components that will give us race winning performance and consistency as well as excellent durability” says team manager Oscar de Oliveira. “We took the decision to test Powerbrake’s GT-Series 2-piece brake rotors, matched to Hawk DTC race pads towards the end of the 2007 season. During testing we saw a substantial reduction in rotor temperatures and a dramatic improvement in pad life over the previous brand of race pads that we had been using. As a result, we decided to run the Powerbrake / Hawk combination (front and rear) on all of our cars for the 2008 season. Brake performance under race conditions has been superb and we can say with confidence that the brake package is one of the key strong points of our race cars”.
