It has become clear that some vehicle owners have been buying our high-performance Pro Street Series Upgrade Kits, not because they necessarily need a performance brake setup, but because they have repeatedly experienced problems with brake vibration and low mileage when fitting standard replacement discs and pads. In other words, these customers have been fitting our Pro Street Series Kits because they are looking for a more durable disc/pad combination, even though their driving styles may not require all of the high-performance features that the discs and pads in our Pro Street Kits have to offer. To cater for this segment of the market we have introduced a range of brake upgrade kits based on our new Heavy Duty disc line. Each kit includes a set of front Powerbrake Heavy Duty discs as well as a matched set of brake pads that have been designed to offer strong brake performance, high levels of safety and, above all, class-leading product life.

Our Heavy Duty discs are manufactured using technology and materials originally developed for our highly respected Pro Street and championship-winning Die Hard series (high-performance & race) disc lines. This results in our Heavy Duty discs being machined to tolerances up to three times tighter than the industry norm. These industry-leading tolerances play a key role in achieving smooth, quiet braking, zero brake judder and maximum disc life. Every Heavy Duty disc is also mill-balanced to ensure zero off-brake vibration, hereby extending wheel bearing life as well. Each disc that leaves the production line is measured in all critical dimensions using equipment capable of measuring accurately to tolerances of 0.005mm. There is no batch testing. Every single disc is carefully measured. This 100% inspection policy is practically unheard of in the brake disc aftermarket and is testimony to our commitment to deliver a perfect product – without fail.

At a time when many of the brake discs available in the aftermarket are being produced to meet the lowest possible price point, (often leading to ‘suspect’ quality and resulting in brake judder and poor wear life), Powerbrake now offers vehicle owners a premium quality alternative in the form of our Heavy Duty disc range. Our Heavy Duty discs will be appreciated by vehicle owners and fitment centres who understand that fitting ‘cheap’ brake discs is not only costly in the long run but can be frustrating and even dangerous. Our discs are designed to exceed the performance and durability of the original equipment discs fitted to the car by the vehicle manufacturer. We believe that our Heavy Duty discs are quite simply the highest quality, standard-replacement discs on the market today.

The brake pad compounds that we include in our Heavy Duty Matched Upgrade Kits have been selected with three key criteria in mind. Wear life, fade resistance and above average stopping power. Sourced from some of the world’s leading pad manufacturers, these pad materials are selected based on the target vehicle in question and will offer confidence-inspiring brake performance and excellent pad life under a wide range of driving conditions.

In addition to superb wear life, drivers can expect a meaningful upgrade in stopping power and fade resistance when fitting one of our Heavy Duty Kits. Initial ‘bite’ will be positive but not overly aggressive and brake torque (stopping power) will increase slightly throughout a brake application. Extensive on-car testing, conducted in-house by Powerbrake, has shown time and again that this combination of smooth engagement and gently increasing brake torque is easiest to modulate under emergency braking, leading to reduced wheel lockup and the shortest possible stopping distances in real-world driving conditions. Our Heavy Duty Kits are fully compatible with modern ABS systems.
