High Performance Street and 4x4 Brake Pads

Please note that the "Friction co-efficient" and "Optimum heat range" figures quoted for the pad compounds below are based on our own brake dyno testing. These figures are conservative. We are fully aware that there are numerous pad manufacturers out there that grossly exaggerate friction co-efficient and heat range figures in their marketing material. Unfortunately many vehicle owners fall for these inflated figures and purchase the pads only to end up being very disappointed with the real world performance. At Powerbrake we do not exaggerate or inflate test results for marketing purposes. The brake dyno we use is set up to give conservative results. We would rather under-promise and over-deliver than the other way round. The figures quoted below are intended to highlight the differences between the various pad compounds in relation to one another. When comparing the figures quoted below to those published by some of our competitors, it may seem that their pads look good on paper. In the real world however, we are confident that you will be very happy with the performance of the pads that we choose to stock and offer with our discs and big brake kits. The pads that we supply will perform as advertised.... or better! That's why we have so many return customers that stick to the pad compounds that we recommend.

Bendix Ultimate is a high-performance, low-met compound that provides exceptional stopping power, resulting in shorter stopping distances and very good resistance to brake fade at high operating temperatures. Customers will experience strong initial bite and very strong overall brake performance. In spite of the high friction levels, the Bendix Ultimate compound delivers a fairly flat, predictable torque curve resulting in good modulation characteristics. Suitable for use on a wide range of high-performance street cars, SUV's and 4x4 vehicles. Bendix Ultimate pads will generally offer significantly upgraded brake performance and fade resistance over OEM and standard aftermarket brake pads. While these pads can certainly be used with standard factory (original equipment) brake discs, we highly recommend running them in conjunction with our Powerbrake GT or All Terrain Series high-performance slotted brake discs for maximum brake performance, fade resistance and wear life.

Endless / Powerbrake PB05 is a ceramic-carbon-metal compound designed to deliver strong stopping power, extreme fade resistance and very good pad life as well as low noise, low dust output and low disc abrasion. The PB05 compound offers the very highest level of performance and fade resistance that is available on the world market before moving into true race pad compounds, which can run noisy when used on street cars. PB05 has a positive but not overly aggressive initial bite. Endless specifically engineered this characteristic to reduce the occurrence of premature wheel lockup and unwanted ABS intervention when running street or all terrain tyres. The PB05 compound has an optimal temperature range of 0-700 deg C, which makes it ideal for use on cars that are used for both high-performance street as well as entry-level track day use (i.e. less than 7 laps per session with a standard car running on street tyres). Brake response and modulation is excellent, even at speeds in excess of 200km/h. Pad wear life is unmatched in this dual-purpose role and PB05 is particularly kind to discs as well. Drivers of fast / heavy / powerful (high-inertia) cars will find the PB05 material to be an excellent choice for high-performance street use. The compound exhibits very low compressibility resulting in a very good pedal feel. Endless / Powerbrake PB05 pads feature a mechanical retention system. This means that in addition to the bonding agents used to attached the friction material to the pad backing plate, the backing plates used in the manufacture of Endless PB05 pads, have a mechanical system which grips the friction material puck. This greatly increases pad shear strength and practically eliminates the chance of pad de-lamination at high-operating temperatures. Edge-chafers are also standard on all PB05 pads to ensure the quietest possible operation. Suitable for use on a wide range of high-performance street cars, SUV's and 4x4 vehicles. This is the very best dual-purpose street / light-track pad currently available on the market in our opinion. While these pads can certainly be used with standard factory (original equipment) brake discs, we highly recommend running them in conjunction with our Powerbrake GT or All Terrain Series high-performance slotted brake discs for maximum brake performance, fade resistance and wear life.

Ferodo DS Performance pads bring entry-level race pad technology to the road. This pad compound delivers strong brake performance at both low and high speeds over a wide temperature range. DS Performance is a true upgrade pad (in a similar league to the Bendix Ultimate compound above) that delivers reduced stopping distances and improved fade resistance. Delivering brake performance usually associated with entry-level track pads, these brake pads bring performance enthusiasts all the benefit of Ferodo's extensive racing know-how and experience for daily use on the road. The pads feature a thermal under-layer between the friction material and the backing plate, to help dissipate heat during high speed braking. This helps to prevent problems often associated with extreme braking conditions such as brake fluid degradation and damage to calliper seals. A very good all-round upgrade pad for high-performance street and entry-level track day use (although pads wear will be fairly high under track day conditions). While these pads can certainly be used with standard factory (original equipment) brake discs, we highly recommend running them in conjunction with our Powerbrake GT or All Terrain Series high-performance slotted brake discs for maximum brake performance, fade resistance and wear life.
